Enabling courses

From 2024, we're making your journey to university that bit easier. We have two new enabling courses to get you ready to study an undergraduate degree.

Access Charles Sturt Entry

Free to domestic students, this course gets you up to speed with the skills you need to study at university: academic writing, foundational maths and critical thinking. The Access Charles Sturt Entry course is ideal if you didn’t do Year 12, if you have a TAFE Cert 2 or if it’s a few years since you did any formal learning. It’s also a great way to build your learning confidence and get skills for studying. When you complete the course you’ll get entry into the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation or a range of other undergraduate certificates.

Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation

Perhaps you didn't quite get the ATAR you needed. You may instead have relevant life experience or a TAFE certificate (3 or 4) or have been in the workplace. If any of these sound like you, or you have completed the Access Charles Sturt Entry enabling course, then the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation is a great option.

Develop academic skills and choose subjects across the disciplines of science, maths, writing and history to match your future study goals. Complete this course to get guaranteed entry into a wide range of Charles Sturt bachelor's degrees and undergraduate certificates – with credit towards your course so you have a head start.

Completion of the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation will provide entry into the following courses:

The Guaranteed Entry list represents those Charles Sturt Undergraduate courses which are conditionally offered to students prior to their completion of the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation. When successful completion is evidenced, the conditional offer becomes a guaranteed offer.

Students seeking entry to undergraduate courses which are not listed here can apply directly to their preferred course. Their offer will be considered on merit and consider their results (Grade Point Average) in the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation, as well as any relevant evidence of other prior learning or professional experience, and a recommendation from the Course Director (Manager, Enabling and Transition).

Please note, under current Federal Government rules, Undergraduate Certificates cannot be issued by any university after 30 June 2025. This means if you are still studying an Undergraduate Certificate in 2025 or later, we may not be able to award you with the qualification, even if you have met all the course requirements. You can still enrol in this course, and either complete your studies and have your award conferred by the cut-off date or use the subjects you’ve completed to gain entry or credit for many of our other courses. However, the Government is currently reviewing this rule, and we expect to receive further advice soon. If the date is extended, this information will be updated.
