Police welcome the NSW Government’s reward of $100,000 for information relating to the murder of a service station employee on Christmas Eve in 1999.
About 5.20am on 24 December 1999, Sanjay Kumar Roy was working as a console operator at the Mobil Service Station on The Kingsway, Woolooware, when a man armed with a shotgun entered the store.
The 31-year-old Indian National was shot and killed during the incident.
Police from Miranda Local Area Command established Strike Force Polesworth to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Despite extensive investigations, police have not been able to identify the person or people responsible for the murder.
The NSW Government is offering up to $100,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person or people responsible for Sanjay’s death. The allocation of this reward will be at the sole discretion of the Commissioner of Police.
In particular, detectives would like to speak with a man they believe will be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as being 178cm tall, of medium to solid build, with fair to olive complexion, and short, dark-coloured hair.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a light-coloured baseball cap, a green/blue collared jacket, a light-coloured jumper, light-coloured jeans or pants, and dark-coloured shoes.
