Criminal Groups Squad detectives charge two alleged Alameddine associates for the alleged supply of drugs to prisons

Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged two inmates for their alleged roles in supplying drugs to a correctional centre in the Hunter region.

In April 2023, detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad launched an investigation into drug supply using run or ‘dial-a-dealer’ phones across Sydney.

During the investigation, detectives identified a syndicate operating within a correctional centre in Cessnock.

As part of investigations, strike force detectives have charged six people – four men and two women – for their alleged roles in the criminal syndicate. All six remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, strike force detectives arrested two men – aged 31 and 23 – at a correctional facility in Silverwater on Monday 23 September 2024.

The 31-year-old was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug small quantity and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The 23-year-old was charged with supply prohibited drug small quantity and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

Both men were refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court yesterday, where they were further refused bail to appear before the same court tomorrow (Thursday 26 September 2024).

Detectives will allege in court the two men – who are alleged members of the Alameddine Organised Crime Network – assisted in supplying drugs to the correctional facility with an estimated prison value of $250,000.
