Update on search for missing man - Swansea

The search for a Lake Macquarie man after a boat overturned at Swansea has concluded for the day.

About 7.50pm on Saturday 6 July 2024, emergency services were called to Channel Street, Swansea, following reports of multiple people in the water after a small boat overturned.

On arrival, officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District were told three men – aged 23, 23 and 20 – had been pulled from the water at Dobinson Drive, Swansea, with a 23-year-old man still missing.

An extensive multi-agency search for the missing man was conducted that night and continued during daylight hours yesterday (Sunday 7 July 2024) and today (Monday 8 July 2024).

The search was suspended at 4.30pm today due to poor light; however, is expected to resume tomorrow from 8am (Tuesday 9 July 2024).

The search is being led by NSW Police Marine Area Command, and is being assisted by Lake Macquarie Police District, PolAir, Marine Rescue, Toll Rescue Helicopter, Surf Life Saving NSW, and NSW SES.
