Man charged following alleged vandalism - Sydney

A man has been charged after allegedly damaging a statue in Sydney yesterday.
About 5.30am yesterday (Tuesday 22 October 2024), police were called to Queen Victoria Building, Market Street, Sydney CBD, following reports a statue had been vandalised.
Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command established a crime scene and an investigation commenced.
Following inquiries, with the assistance of the Public Order & Riot Squad, about 10pm last night (Tuesday 22 October 2024), a search warrant was executed at a home on Wonga Street, Strathfield, with police locating and seizing paint bottles.
A 26-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Burwood Police Station.
He was charged with destroy or damage property and face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 12 November 2024.
