Knives, stun device, counterfeit note seized, Tamworth man charged

A man has been charged after knives, a stun device, counterfeit note and ammunition were seized during a Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance check in Tamworth yesterday.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District’s Proactive Crime Team conducted a FPO compliance check about 12.30pm (Wednesday 30 October 2024), at a home on Queen Street, Tamworth.

During the check, police allegedly located prohibited drugs, ammunition, two knives, an electronic stun device, a laser pointer, and counterfeit currency.

All items have been seized for forensic examination.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man at the home before he was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with nine offences,

• Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (four counts)

• Possess prohibited drug (two counts),

• Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority,

• Possess counterfeit money (not excepted counterfeit coin), and

• Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).

The man was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Thursday 31 October 2024).
