Investigation underway following two break & enters & a crash - Tamworth

Police have commenced an investigation following multiple break and enters in the state’s north west.
About 1:50am today (Tuesday 5 November 2024), police were called to a home on Margaret Street, South Tamworth, following reports a break and enter.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and were told a black sedan with South Australian registration plates had been stolen.
Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A short time later the vehicle was located abandoned on a nature strip off Jonathon Street, South Tamworth.
Two people were seen leaving the area in a black sedan.
About 4:40am, police were called to a home on The Heights, Hillvue, following reports of a break and enter.
Officers were told three males - one armed with an axe and another with a knife - entered a home and threatened a 24-year-old man, before stealing a mobile phone, five watches and a Volkswagen Passat.
Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
About 5am, a man and woman were in a white utility travelling near the intersection of Links Avenue and Susanne Street, Tamworth, when the ute was hit by a black sedan, before it rolled on to its side.
When the driver of the ute stopped, an unknown male from the rolled car approached the passenger side of the utility and threatened the woman.
The male smashed the window and demanded the woman’s handbag, before he got in a silver vehicle with a black roof and drove off.
Another two males were seen running from the scene.
The woman suffered a cut to her arm and was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital for treatment.
About 10:30am, the Volkswagen was located abandoned on Gidgee Street, Hillvue.
It will undergo forensic testing.
About 11am, a member of the public located the mobile phone reported stolen from Hilvue.
Investigations into the incidents are ongoing, however initial inquiries suggest they are linked.
