Two charged over alleged pursuit - Port Macquarie

Two men have been charged over an alleged pursuit at Port Macquarie earlier this week.
About 12pm on Wednesday (6 November 2024), police attempted to stop a Holden Commodore on Albert Drive, Warrell Creek, after checks revealed it had been reported stolen from Sydney.
When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated; however, it was terminated a short time later due to the manner of driving.
A second pursuit was initiated and again terminated due to the manner of driving.
Tyre spikes were deployed on the Pacific Highway at Kempsey and the vehicle came to a stop a short time later.
The passenger of the vehicle allegedly attempted to carjack several vehicles before running into bushland, while the driver also entered bushland on foot.
Following a search by Mid North Coast Police, Highway Patrol, the Dog Unit and the Coffs High-Risk DV Team, two men were arrested in bushland a short time later.
The 34-year-old driver and the 32-year-old passenger were taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
The older man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, exceed speed greater than 45km/h, not stop vehicle when directed to do so, and aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it.
He was also charged with four unrelated property and assault offences.
He was refused bail and appeared before Kempsey Local Court yesterday (Thursday 7 November 2024), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday 20 November 2024.
The younger man was charged with two counts of unlawfully take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it.
He was refused bail and appeared before Kempsey Local Court yesterday (Thursday 7 November 2024), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Thursday 21 November 2024.
