Man charged with alleged murder of woman at South West Rocks

A man has been charged with murder after a woman’s body was found in a home north of Kempsey yesterday.

About 8am yesterday (Friday 8 November 2024), police were called to a unit on Memorial Avenue, South West Rocks, 30km north of Kempsey, and found the body of a 70-year-old woman.

A 59-year-old man – who police allege is known to the woman – was arrested at the scene and was taken to Kempsey Police Station.

A crime scene was established by detectives from Mid North Coast Police District, who commenced Strike Force Nundroo to investigate her death.

Following inquiries, detectives have now charged the man with murder.

He has been refused bail to appear before Port Macquarie Bail Court today (Saturday 9 November 2024).
