Investigation underway following serious crash - Wentworthville

An investigation is underway after a man was seriously injured after a crash in Sydney’s south west overnight.
About 11.30pm yesterday (Monday 11 November 2024), emergency services were called to the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Jersey Road, Wentworthville, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and found two cars and a semi-trailer truck had collided.
The passenger of a Toyota hatch, a 24-year-old man, was trapped for a substantial time where police rendered first aid before he was freed by Fire and Rescue NSW.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the hatch, a 21-year-old woman, was trapped for a short time before being freed by Fire & Rescue NSW.
She was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the Hyundai hatch was uninjured.
The driver of the truck, a 43-year-old man, was uninjured.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation in underway with the assistance of the Crash Investigation Unit.
The Great Western Highway east and westbound are closed.
Diversions are in place.
