Criminal Groups Squad detectives charge man over alleged kidnapping in Granville

Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged a man over an alleged kidnapping in Granville earlier this year under Strike Force Wessex.
Strike Force Wessex was established in March 2023 by State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad to investigate alleged criminal groups involved in drug supply using drug run or ‘dial-a-dealer’ phones across Sydney.
During the investigation, police established that about 12am on Friday 19 January 2024 a 22-year-old man was lured to dial-a-dealer premises in Granville, where he was assaulted by about 6 men rendering him unconscious and dumped nearby.
In May 2024, two men were arrested and charged with their involvement in the alleged kidnapping and remain before the courts.
Following extensive inquiries, about 7.30am yesterday (Thursday 21 November 2024), strike force detectives – with assistance from Raptor Squad – arrested a 23-year-old man in Granville.
The man was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with kidnap in company with intent serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm and three counts of supply prohibited drug >small &
He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 22 November 2024).
Police will further allege the man was identified as having supplied prohibited drugs in a Parklea Correctional Centre.
