Woman charged after vehicles stolen in Bathurst - Operation Regional Mongoose

A woman has been charged as investigations continue into multiple car and motorbike thefts in the Bathurst area last week.
Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed predominately by young offenders.
On the evening of Tuesday 19 November 2024, two vehicles- a Subaru SUV and a BMW SUV - and a motorcycle were allegedly stolen from three separate homes within the Eglinton and Bathurst areas.
About 3.30am on Wednesday 20 November 2024, emergency services were called to a residence on Oates Place, Eglinton, following reports of a car fire.
Upon arrival, officers attached to Chifley Police District located the Subaru SUV fully alight.
NSW Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire; however, the vehicle was destroyed.
An investigation into the incidents commenced.
Following extensive inquiries, officers located the allegedly stolen BMW abandoned on Moorshead Place, Kelso, about 7:30am.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a replica firearm.
The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
About 1.30pm the same day, police attended a home in Kelso, where they arrested a 33-year-old woman.
Police will allege in court she was a passenger in the BMW and used a stolen credit card for a number of fraudulent purchases.
She was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and dishonestly obtain property by deception.
She was granted conditional bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court on Wednesday 8 January 2025.
