Officer charged - Southwest Metropolitan Region

A police officer has been charged over the alleged assault of three men, a woman and two police officers in Sydney’s inner city earlier this year.
On Sunday 14 January 2024, police attended Campbell Street, Surry Hills, following an incident, where an off-duty officer – a constable attached to the Southwest Metropolitan Region – allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man, a 73-year-old woman – and two off-duty police officers aged – aged 35 and 37.
The officer was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station where it is alleged, he assaulted a 49-year-old Sergeant and bit a 27-year-old constable on his arm.
Following an investigation, yesterday (Monday 25 November 2024) the 23-year-old officer was issued a court attendance notice for four counts of common assault and two counts assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.
He will appear the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 30 January 2025.
The officer’s employment status is under review.
