Appeal for information following assault - Maitland

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was hit by a car then assaulted earlier this year.

About 10.20pm on Thursday 27 September 2024, a man was riding a bicycle on High Street, Maitland, when he was deliberately struck by a red Holden Commodore before he was approached by an occupant of the vehicle who assaulted him with a metal tool before leaving the scene.

A 48-year-old man presented to Maitland Hospital for the treatment of wrist injuries and a laceration.

Police attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were subsequently notified and commenced inquiries into the incident.

As inquiries continue, police have released a description of two occupants of a red Holden Commodore who may be able to assist with inquiries.

A male described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged about 45, with a medium build and orange beard.

A female described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged about 40, with dark hair.
