Man charged over serious crash - Ashfield

A man has been charged over a serious crash in Sydney’s inner west.
About 10.50am yesterday (Sunday 1 December 2024), emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a vehicle and a push bike at the intersection of Milton Street and Norton Street, Ashfield.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the rider – a 58-year-old man – before he was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
A crime scene was established by officers from Burwood Police Area Command that was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
The 24-year-old male driver was uninjured. He was taken to Canterbury Hospital for mandatory testing.
Later that afternoon the driver was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle and not stop at stop line at red light (not toll booth) – motor vehicle.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 17 December 2024.
The man’s drivers’ licence has also been suspended.
