Appeal for information following fire - Lake Macquarie

Detectives from Lake Macquarie Police District and the State Crime Command’s Arson Unit are appealing for information following an alleged arson attack at Speers Point last month.
About 3.50am on Wednesday 27 November 2024, emergency services were called to a building on Main Road, Speers Point, following reports of a fire.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended and found a council building well alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked to extinguish the blaze; however, the building sustained extensive damage with repairs estimated to cost several million dollars.
Police established a crime scene and inquiries into the fire commenced under Strike Force Komiatum.
Inquiries by strike force detectives have established that two persons were in the vicinity of the council building at the time of the incident.
