Woman dies in two-vehicle crash near Armidale

A woman has died in a two-vehicle crash in the state’s north today.

About 10.30am (Friday 6 December 2024), emergency services were called to The New England Highway at South Guyra – about 40 kilometres north of Armidale – following reports of a crash.

Police attended the scene where they found two SUVs – a Suzuki and Hyundai – had collided.

The driver of the Suzuki – a woman believed to be aged in her 30s – could not be revived and died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the Hyundai – a 20-year-old woman – and a six-month-old baby, were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before they were taken to Armidale Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Police attached to New England Police District have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Alternative traffic arrangements are in place, with delays expected on the New England Highway.
