Warnings after pursuit, alleged carjacking - Coffs Harbour

Police have issued a warning and are appealing for information after a pursuit and subsequent carjacking and crash near Coffs Harbour this afternoon.
Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Upper Orara Road Coramba Road, Karangi, about 11.30am (Friday 6 December 2024), due to concerns the two occupants were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated which continued on Coramba Road towards Coramba; however, was terminated a short time later due to the manner of driving.
A short time later, police were called to East Bank Road, Nana Glen, responding to reports a woman had been injured in a carjacking.
Police were told that two men allegedly assaulted a man and stole an SUV before the vehicle struck a woman nearby. The SUV was then driven from the scene.
The woman – aged in her 50s – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a serious condition.
The man – aged in his 60s – was treated for lacerations and abrasions before also attending Coffs Harbor Hospital.
Police located the stolen SUV alight a short time later on Mardells Road, Bucca.
Firefighters were called and the fire was extinguished; however, the men had left the scene.
Police attached to Coffs-Clarence Police District have commenced inquiries into the incident.
Police are warning anyone who sees the men, not to approach them but to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
