Teenager charged with car theft; property-related offences - Dubbo

A teenager will face court on several alleged property-related offences in the state’s Central West today, as Operation Regional Mongoose continues to be a focus for NSW Police.
Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, allegedly committed predominately by young offenders.
It will be alleged that a 16-year-old boy stole a vehicle from Spring Court, Dubbo, about 11.30pm on Monday 4 November 2024.
The following day the teenager allegedly failed to pay for petrol at a service station on Hawthorne Street.
The vehicle was found in Cobra Street on the same day and has been seized for forensic examination.
Following inquiries, about 12.45pm yesterday (Thursday 5 December 2024), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District arrested a teenage boy.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station.
It will be further alleged that the boy was in breach of his bail conditions and had also trespassed on a shopping centre on Windsor Parade on Sunday 17 November 2024.
Inquires also established that he did not hold a driver’s licence.
He was charged with,
• Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
• Dishonestly obtain property by deception
• Never licensed person drive vehicle on road
• Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
• Enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence
• Larceny
• Breach of bail
The boy was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Friday 6 December 2024), where he was remanded in custody to reappear at the same court on Monday 17 February 2025.
Investigations are ongoing.
