Appeal for information following a serious assault at Inverell

Police are appealing for information following reports of a serious assault in the state’s Northern Tablelands.
Officers attached to New England Police District were called to a home on Lang Street, Inverell, last night (Saturday 7 December 2024), following reports of a serious assault.
Officers attended and were told a woman in her 20s was in Apex Park, Inverell, about 7pm yesterday, when she was grabbed from behind and assaulted.
The woman returned to a home on Lang Street, and called police.
She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time.
Officers have also released an image of a pair of shorts which are missing.
