Man charged with alleged cattle theft offence near Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged with allegedly stealing cattle in the state’s south.
In November 2024 Rural Crime Investigators attached to Riverina Police District commenced investigations into an alleged cattle theft at a property in Wanterbadgery, approximately 38km east of Wagga Wagga.
Officers were told 18 head of Angus Heifers, were allegedly stolen from a rural property between Saturday 2 November 2024 and Sunday 3 November 2024.
The total value of the livestock is estimated at $18,000.
About 3pm, on Thursday 5 December 2024, officers arrested a 32-year-old man on Oura Road, Oura. He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with steal cattle.
He was refused bail and appeared before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Friday 6 December 2024, where he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 22 January 2025.
Police will allege in court the cattle were presented for sale at Wagga Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre on Monday 4 November 2024.
Investigations are continuing.
