Woman charged following crash near Brogo

A woman has been charged after a serious single-vehicle crash in the state’s south.

Shortly after 7.10pm on Friday 6 December 2024, emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, near Brogo, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were told an SUV crashed into a guard rail before rolling.

A 41-year-old male passenger was thrown from the vehicle.

NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene and treated the man for serious leg injuries.

A 36-year-old female driver was also assessed by paramedics, before both people were taken to Bega Hospital for further treatment.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

A crime scene was established and the Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries.

Upon her release from hospital on Tuesday 10 December 2024, the woman was arrested and taken to Bega Police Station.

She was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous; negligent driving occasioning grievous harm; drive with one passenger seatbelt/restraint not properly fastened and unlicenced for class.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Batemans Bay Local Court today (Wednesday 11 December 2024) where she was formally refused bail to appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday 17 December 2024.
