Man charged after officer assaulted - Blacktown - Operation Ensure

A man has been charged with allegedly assaulting a police officer in Sydney’s west.
About 5pm yesterday, Wednesday 11 December 2024, officers attached to Central Metropolitan Region, HVP were completing a vehicle stop near Blacktown Railway Station when they observed a man allegedly yelling aggressively nearby.
When police approached the man, his level of aggression allegedly escalated.
Police conducted a search of the man and allegedly located two folding knives. While police were conducting the search, the man allegedly spat a cigarette into the face of an officer.
The man was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with assault police and possession of knife in a public place.
He was refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court today, Thursday 12 December 2024.
The officer attended Blacktown Hospital for blood testing.
Operation Ensure was established to prevent, disrupt and respond to youth/gang/knife related crime in Western Sydney.
