Man charged over alleged drug and firearms offences - Port Macquarie

A man has been charged over alleged drug and firearms offences following a vehicle stop early this morning.
About 2.40am (Tuesday 17 December 2204), officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District stopped a vehicle on Lake Road, Port Macquarie.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police allegedly located and seized two firearms, ammunition, a knife, and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
The driver of the car, a 31-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station.
There he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, not keep firearm safely (pistol), not keep firearm safely (prohibited firearm), custody of knife in public place, and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court today (Tuesday 17 December 2024), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Thursday 23 January 2025.
