Two charged after 13 firearms recovered - Glenmore Park

Two people will face court today after 13 firearms were recovered from a home in Sydney’s west.
In August 2024, officers from Proactive Crime Team at Mount Druitt Police Area Command commenced an investigation into an alleged firearms theft in the Lethbridge Park area.
A total of 22 firearms – all believed to be legally registered – and ammunition were stolen from the property between Wednesday 14 August 2024 and Friday 23 August 2024.
Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 45-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy about 7.50am yesterday (Wednesday 18 December 2024), at an address in Glenmore Park.
Police recovered 13 firearms, ammunition, and plants alleged to be cannabis leaf.
They were taken to Penrith Police Station where the man was charged with 22 offences,
- Cultivate cannabis (more than indictable and less than commercial quantity)
- Possess more than three unregistered firearms without licence/permit
- Possess unregistered firearm-pistol (three counts)
- Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm (three counts)
- Acquire firearm part without authority to do so (four counts)
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
- Possess prohibited drug
- Not keep firearm safety-pistol (three counts)
- Not keep firearm safely – prohibited firearm (three counts)
- Not keep firearm safely – not pistol/prohibited firearm, and
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Thursday 19 December 2024).
The 17-year-old boy was charged with three offences,
- Possess prohibited drug
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.
He was also refused bail to appear in a children’s court later today.
Inquiries are continuing into the whereabouts of the remaining firearms.
