Two boys charged over alleged break and enter, pursuit - Tamworth

Two boys have been charged following alleged break and enters and pursuit in the state’s west this morning.
Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed predominately by young offenders.
About 2.30am (Thursday 26 December 2024), person/s allegedly broke into a home on Overlanders Way, Hillvue, and stole a ute.
About 3.30am, three males allegedly armed with a knife, broke into the home on Valley Drive, East Tamworth, and threatened two residents – a 17-year-old girl and a 60-year-old woman.
The older woman was allegedly cut by one of the males, before they stole an Audi.
The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District commenced investigations into the incidents.
About 4.10am, police attempted to stop the ute on Bridge Street, West Tamworth.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued through Tamworth, where road spikes were successfully deployed on Cole Road, Tamworth.
The driver and a passenger, both 15-year-old boys, were arrested.
They were taken to Tamworth Police Station, where the alleged driver was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indicatable offence, police pursuit, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.
The alleged passenger was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indicatable offence, take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and breach bail.
Both were bail refused to appear before a children's court tomorrow (Friday 27 December 2024).
Investigations continue.
