Woman charged after allegedly hitting motorcycle and running over teenage pillion passenger - Dubbo

A woman has been charged after she allegedly hit a motorcycle and ran over a teenage pillion passenger in Dubbo overnight.
About 11.10pm yesterday (Saturday 28 December 2024), police were patrolling East Street, Dubbo, when they sighted a Honda motorcycle riding through a park.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District made their way to the other side of the park where they found that a Nissan SUV had allegedly mounted a footpath hitting the motorcycle, believed to be stolen, and trapping the pillion passenger.
The pillion passenger, a 17-year-old boy, was freed from under the vehicle and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious injuries before being airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.
The motorcycle rider had left the scene before emergency services had arrived.
The driver, a 21-year-old woman, was arrested after she allegedly attempted to leave the scene before emergency services arrived.
She was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for mandatory testing before being taken to Dubbo Police Station.
A crime scene was established and an investigation with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit was commenced.
The 21-year-old was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm drive manner dangerous and negligent driving occasions grievous bodily harm. The woman’s licence was also suspended.
The woman was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Dubbo Local Court on Monday 10 February 2025.
Investigations are continuing to identify the motorcycle rider.
