Man charged over alleged stabbing - Five Dock

A man will face court today following a wide-scale police search, after an elderly man was allegedly stabbed in Sydney’s inner west yesterday.

About 3.45pm on Sunday, (29 December 2024), emergency services were called to Lyons Road near Williams Road, Five Dock, following reports of an alleged stabbing.

Police were told an 82-year-old man was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen by another man on the street, before he ran from the scene.

Witnesses assisted the elderly man before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. He was treated at the scene and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Following extensive inquiries, at about 6.20pm, police located and arrested a 51-year-old man on Pyrmont Street, Pyrmont.

He was taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with cause wounding/ grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Monday 30 December 2024).
