UPDATE: Crescent Head crash driver arrested, critical incident downgraded

NSW Police will be applying for the extradition of a man after he was arrested by Queensland Police on his release from Gold Coast Hospital yesterday.

The 39-year-old man had been receiving treatment after being injured when his SUV crashed near Crescent Head after being involved in a pursuit last Friday (27 December 2024).

A critical incident was initially declared; however, following an update on the man’s condition, the matter was no longer deemed a critical incident.

The man remains in police custody in Queensland, with arrangements underway to apply for his extradition to NSW.
