Eight charged during Operation Surge - Central West PD

Western Region officers have conducted a three-day high-visibility operation focused on preventing and disrupting crime in the state’s central west, where eight people were charged.
Between Wednesday 8 January 2025 and Friday 10 January 2025, officers attached to Central West Police District, Western Region Domestic Violence High Risk Team and Western Region Operational Support Group, saturated Orange and the surrounding areas under Operation Surge to proactively target alleged offenders.
Operation Surge is part of Operational Regional Mongoose, which focuses on young offenders who commit break and enter offences and steal motor vehicles.
As part of Operation Surge, police arrested and charged eight people for a total of 14 offences, and conducted:
· 20 bail compliance checks,
· 14 domestic apprehended violence order compliance checks, and
· four firearms prohibition searches during which five firearms, nunchakus and knuckledusters were seized.
Operation Surge will be continually rolled-out throughout the Western Region.
