Multi-agency response to mine fire - Broken Hill

A fire is continuing to burn in a mine at Broken Hill.

About 11am today (Monday 13 January 2025) emergency services were called to the Perilya Mine following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District are in attendance, alongside, Fire and Rescue NSW, SES and NSW Ambulance.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Smoke is emanating from the site and residents are urged to remain indoors and to keep windows, doors and vents closed.

The extent of the fire is currently unknown.
