Two charged following man's death - Lake Macquarie

A man and woman will appear before court today charged following an investigation into the death of a man at Lake Macquarie.

Shortly after 11pm on Thursday 9 January 2025, emergency services were called to a home on Mahogany Crescent, Gateshead, following a concern for welfare.

A 37-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident.

A postmortem conducted on Monday (13 January 2025) revealed that the man sustained several stab wounds.

Following extensive inquiries under Strike Force Bradley by local police and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, a search warrant was executed at a home on Long Crescent, Shortland, about 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 15 January 2025).

An 18-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station.

The man was charged with murder (DV), and threat/cause injury/harm to prevent information to police.

The woman was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Both were refused bail to appear before Belmont Local Court today (Thursday 16 January 2025).
