The Port Stephens Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) remains active as a multi-agency response continues following a severe storm earlier this week.
On the evening of Wednesday 15 January 2025, a severe storm cell passed through the Port Stephens area causing damage to property and disruptions to essential services.
In response, the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District stood up an Emergency Operations Centre yesterday (Thursday 16 January 2025).
The EOC has representatives from several key agencies including NSW SES, RFS, FRNSW, Transport for NSW, Hunter New England Health, DCJ Community Services, Reconstruction NSW, Ausgrid, Telstra, Hunter Water, and local councils including Port Stephens, Maitland and Dungog Shire.
The EOC remains operational and is anticipated to be stood up again tomorrow (Saturday 18 January 2025).
For emergency assistance from the NSW SES during floods or storms, call 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies call Triple Zero (000).
