Man charged with 18 historic sexual assault offences - Sutherland Shire

Detectives have charged a man following an investigation into the alleged historic sexual assaults of a number of children in the Sutherland Shire area in the 1990’s.

In July 2023, detectives attached to South Coast Police District began investigating after receiving a report of multiple incidents of sexual assault.

Following investigations, detectives arrested an 80-year-old man at Menai about 8:30am today, Tuesday 21 January 2025.

The man was charged with 18 offences in total including the substantive offences of multiple sexual assault indecent act with person < 16 years and multiple sexual intercourse with person between 10 & under 16 years.

The man was refused bail refused to appear before Sutherland Local Court tomorrow, Wednesday 22 January 2025.
