Man charged after assault in Malabar - Eastern Beaches PAC

A man will face court after he allegedly assaulted another man in Sydney’s east.

About 8.30pm on Friday (3 January 2025), police were called to an address on Bilga Crescent, Malabar, following a Triple Zero (000) call of an alleged assault.

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were told a 59-year-old man was approached by another man – unknown to him – before he was assaulted to his face number of times.

The 59-yearold man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for his facial injuries before being taken to Prince Wales Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident has commenced.

Following extensive inquiries, on Tuesday (21 January 2025), detectives arrested a 42-year-old man in Randwick area.

Further inquiries alleged the man was also involved in damaging properties at a hospital in Randwick on Monday (6 January 2025).

He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm , assault frontline emergency worker – no actual bodily harm, and destroy or damage property.

He was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 22 January 2025).
