Second person charged with fraud and proceeds of crime offences north of Wollongong - Strike Force Sarina

A woman will face court today charged with a number of fraud and proceeds of crime offences in the Illawarra.

Strike Force Sarina was established to investigate allegations a will was fraudulently created using documents stolen from a home in East Corrimal, north of Wollongong and submitted to apply for probate.

About 10am yesterday (Thursday 23 January 2025), police executed a search warrant at a home in East Corrimal.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

She was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

She was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 24 January 2025).

Police will allege in court, the woman co-witnessed the signing of the alleged fraudulent will. It will be alleged the estimated value of the fraud is over $4.5 million – and involved four homes and two bank accounts.

Last week, a 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with 27 fraud and firearm offences relating to the alleged fraudulent will.
