Third person charged with fraud and proceed of crime offences - Strike Force Sarina

A third person has been charged with a number of fraud and proceeds of crime offences in the Illawarra.

Strike Force Sarina was established to investigate allegations a will was fraudulently created using documents stolen from a home in East Corrimal, north of Wollongong and submitted to apply for probate.

About 8:30am on Thursday 30 January 2025, police arrested a 67-year-old man at a home in Koonawarra.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime and participate in criminal group.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 11 March 2025.

Police will allege in court; the man co-witnessed the signing of the alleged fraudulent will. It will be alleged the estimated value of the fraud is over $4.5 million.

A 38-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman have already been charged by Strike Force Sarina detectives and their matters remain before the Courts.
