Two charged over alleged driving and ammunition offences - Manning/Great Lakes PD

A man and woman have been charged over alleged driving and ammunition offences following an investigation by police.
About 8.30pm yesterday (Sunday 2 February 2025), police were called to the M1 at Rainbow Flat following reports a man aimed a firearm at a vehicle while overtaking it.
A short time later, police attempted to stop a Mitsubishi ASX at Glenthorne, about 5km south-west of Taree.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated, continuing to Lansdowne area where it was terminated.
Following inquiries by Manning/Great Lakes Police District, officers attended a home on Moon Street, Wingham, about 11.55pm (Sunday 2 February 2025).
During a subsequent search of the property, police allegedly located and seized a mace and ammunition.
The alleged driver – a 26-year-old man – and his passenger – an 18-year-old woman – were arrested and taken to Taree Police Station.
The man was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, P1 driver exceed speed (estimated greater than 45 km/h), use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
He was refused bail to appear before Taree Local Court today (Monday 3 February 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Tuesday 18 March 2025.
The woman was charged with permit unregistered vehicle to be driven/used on road, and owner not disclose identity of driver/passenger.
She was granted conditional bail to appear before Taree Local Court on Tuesday 18 March 2025.
