Critical incident declared following man's death - Leichhardt

A critical incident investigation is underway following the death of a man in Sydney’s inner west today.

About 1.30pm (Thursday 6 February 2025), emergency services were called to a unit on Macauley Street, Leichhardt, following reports for a concern for welfare.

Officers attached to Leichhardt Police Area Command attended and located an injured man.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man, but he was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Police established a crime scene and commenced enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

A critical incident team from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation will be subject to an independent review.
