Man charged after drug, firearms, snakes seized from Kelso properties

A man has been charged after drugs, firearms and a large number of snakes were allegedly located at a property in the Central Tablelands.
About 6.30am on Wednesday 12 February 2025, officers attached to Chifley Police District executed a search warrant at Bonner Street, Kelso, after inquiries led police to believe a man allegedly sold cannabis from a home the day prior.
Police allegedly located 300 grams of cannabis, a mobile phone and five prohibited knives and a 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
Further inquiries led police to search a shed at Eleven Mile Drive, Eglinton, where they allegedly located and seized eight replica firearms.
Officers, with the assistance of a NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water investigator, also located and seized more than 100 snakes at the two properties.
He was charged with:
- Not keep firearm safely – pistol
- Possess more than three unregistered firearms, 1 is prohibited/pistol
- Acquire unregistered firearm – pistol
- Possess unregistered firearm – pistol
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than indictable quantity
- Supply prohibited drug to child under 16 by adult more than small and less than indictable quantity
- Contravene licence – any other case, and
- Owner/occupier knowingly allow use as drug premises.
Police will allege in court the man breached his reptile licence.
He was refused bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court today (Thursday 13 February 2025).
