About 3.30am today (Friday 14 February 2025), officers attached to New England Police District were called to a home in Amaroo Drive, Moree, following a report of an alleged break in.

A 58-year-old man who was at home with his 56-year-old wife were awoken to the sounds of the front door being kicked in and being confronted by two young males with hooded jumpers covering their faces.

One of the males picked up a dish drying rack from the kitchen and threw it at the man, connecting with his face and breaking his nose.

The two males then demanded the keys to their vehicles which were parked outside and their mobile phones.

The males took the keys to a grey Mercedes SUV and a brown Ford Territory 4WD and drove off in both vehicles.

No one else was injured during the break-in.

Officers from New England Police District attended and established a crime scene, which has been examined by specialist police.

As investigations continue, Police are appealing with any with information, witnesses or dashcam footage to contact Moree Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
