Man charged with assault police, drink drive - Kingsgrove

A man will face court charged with assaulting police and driving under the influence after being arrested at Kingsgrove this morning.
About 12.20am today (Monday 17 February 2025), emergency services responded to reports that a man was located unconscious in the drivers’ seat of a vehicle that had come to rest on a bollard inside the grounds of a service station along Kingsgrove Road, Kingsgrove.
NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the driver – a 57-year-old man – at the scene where it will be alleged he was heavily intoxicated.
The man was taken to St George Hospital for treatment and blood and urine testing by paramedics with two police officers – a female probationary constable and a male constable – providing escort in the ambulance.
Police will allege the man allegedly assaulted two officers during the journey to hospital.
After being discharged from St George Hospital the man was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm, and drive vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
The Strathfield South man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local court today (Monday 17 February 2025).
Both officers suffered only minor injuries.
