An eighth man has been charged as investigations continue into a large brawl in Sydney’s CBD earlier this month.

About 10.50pm on Saturday 8 February 2025, officers from the Police Transport Command – supported by police from other commands – responded to reports of a fight involving 20 to 30 people in Central Railway Station near the Elizabeth Street entrance.

Police were informed the people assaulted each other and a number of flares were set off.

The group dispersed prior to police arrival and no injuries were reported.

Officers attached to Police Transport Command North Central commenced an investigation under Strike Force Moonul.

Seven people have since been charged and remain before the courts.

About 11.00am yesterday (Wednesday 19 February 2025), officers attached to Strike Force Moonul executed a search warrant at a house on Foxwood Road, Silverdale.

During the search, police allegedly located a replica gel blaster pistol and a replica gel blaster assault-style rifle. Seven other registered firearms and ammunition belonging to a 50-year-old occupant of the premises were also seized and his firearms licence suspended by police.

Following inquiries, a 21-year-old man was arrested at Penrith Police Station.

He was charged with affray and granted conditional bail to appear at Penrith Local Court on 13 March 2025.

A 17-year-old boy was also dealt with under the Young Offenders Act in relation to the seizure of the replica firearms.

Inquiries under Strike Force Moonul continue.
