Four men charged after brawl - Circular Quay

Four men have been charged after a brawl at Circular Quay overnight.

About 10.45pm on Saturday (22 February 2025) police were called to Macquarie Street, Sydney, following reports a group of men were fighting.


Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attended and intervened, separating the group.

A short time later, the group allegedly began fighting again.

As police intervened and attempted to arrest several people, others from the group allegedly hindered and assaulted police.

Police discharged a Taser to effect the arrest of a 26-year-old man who had caused a police officer to fall and had allegedly tackled a second officer.

That man and two other men – aged 24 and 26 - were taken to Surry Hills Police Station. Two additional men – aged 19 and 40 - were arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.

Police were uninjured.

The first 26-year-old man was charged with behave in offensive manner in/near public place/school, hinder or resist police officer in execution of duty and assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.

The second 26-year-old was charged with affray.

The 40-year-old man was charged with two counts of hinder or resist police officer in execution of duty and assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.

They were refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 23 February 2024).

The 19-year-old man was charged with two counts of hinder or resist police officer in execution of duty.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 12 March 2025.

The 24-year-old man was later released without charge following police inquiries.
