Two charged over alleged property offences - Newcastle

Two men have been charged with property offences following an incident near Newcastle last night.

Around 9.45pm (Monday 24 February 2025), police were called to Adamstown Heights following reports of suspicious activity near a residence and parked vehicle on Lucas Crescent.

Occupants of the home allegedly saw two individuals on their property and gave chase to the pair before they stopped nearby at Hudson Park.

Police attached to Newcastle City Police District were called and attended a short time later.

A subsequent search of one of the men allegedly revealed housebreaking implements.

The two men – aged 19 and 21 – were arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

The younger man was charged with larceny, and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

The older man was charged with possess housebreaking implements, and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

Both men were refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Tuesday 25 February 2025).
