Appeal for information following fraud incidents - Sydney CBD

Police are appealing for information as inquiries continue into fraud and scam offences that occurred in 2023.

On Wednesday 22 February 2023, police attached to Mid North Coast Police District began an investigation following reports of a scam incident.

Police have been told that a Victorian man lost $250,000 in an investment scam that he discovered on social media.

Following inquiries by police, officers spoke with a 42-year-old man in Port Macquarie after his identity was used to open bank accounts in Sydney CBD in February 2023.

After speaking with the man, officers determined he was the victim of identity fraud, and he did not open the bank accounts or have the missing $250,000.

Detectives have now released the images of two men they believe can assist with their inquiries.
