23 charged with drug offences during Yours and Ours Festival Wollongong

Police have charged 23 people with drug possession during the Yours and Owls Music Festival in Wollongong over the weekend.
A high-visibility operation was conducted on Flagstaff Hill and the South Beach foreshore on Saturday 1 March 2025 and Sunday 2 March 2025, with Wollongong Police District officers assisted by the Licensing Police, the NSW Police Dog Unit drug detection dogs, and other specialist commands.
The following results were obtained over the two-day period;
23 people charged with possess prohibited drugs
51 drug detections, mainly with MDMA
24 future court attendance notices issued
2 infringement notices issued
18 cannabis cautions
21 drug criminal infringement notices issued
6 patrons ejected from the premises
Notable incidents include;
About 3pm on Saturday 1 March 2025, police were patrolling Cliff Road, Wollongong near Marine Drive, when they detected a man allegedly acting suspiciously. Police searched the 22-year-old man and allegedly seized MDMA. He was issued with a court attendance notice for three counts of possess prohibited drug at Wollongong Local Court later this month.
About 1.20pm on Sunday 2 March 2025, police were patrolling Endeavour Road, Wollongong when a drug detection dog allegedly detected prohibited drugs. A 24-year-old man allegedly indicated he had drugs down his pants. The man was taken to an area and searched, where Police allegedly seized a resealable bag containing magic mushrooms. He was issued with a court attendance notice for possess prohibited drug at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 25 March 2025.
About 2.50pm on Sunday 2 March 2025, police were patrolling Endeavour Road, Wollongong a drug detection dog allegedly detected prohibited drugs. Police searched a 20-year-old man and allegedly seized a plastic bag containing cannabis. The cannabis was seized for forensic examination. The man was provided with a cannabis caution.
