Two charged with more than 100 drug supply related offences in state's north - Strike Force Ankle

Police have charged two men following an ongoing investigation into the alleged drug supply in the state’s north.

In January 2025, officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District established Strike Force Ankle to investigate the alleged drug supply in the Port Macquarie area.

Following investigations, about 3.50pm on Wednesday (12 March 2025), officers attached to Manning-Great Lakes Police District were patrolling along the Pacific Highway, Wang Wauk – about 40km west of Forster – when they stopped a black hatchback, believed to be linked to SF Ankle investigations.

With assistance from officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, police arrested the driver – a 24-year-old man – at the scene.

Police searched the vehicle where they allegedly located and seized about 1.1kg of Methylamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $248,000.

The man was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug more than or equal to large commercial quantity.

He was refused bail and appeared at Taree Local Court on Thursday (13 March 2025), where he was refused bail, to reappear at the same court on Monday (24 March 2025).

Following further inquiries, about 11.15pm on the same day, officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District arrested a 42-year-old man on Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie.

The man was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with 101 offences:

  • Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity (49 counts)
  • Supply prohibited drug less than or equal to small quantity (15 counts)
  • Supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity (19 counts)
  • Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime (12 counts)
  • Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity (two counts)
  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
  • Supply prohibited drug more than or equal to commercial quantity
  • Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, and
  • Supply prohibited drug more than or equal to large commercial quantity.

He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today (14 March 2025).
