Man charged over speeding and pursuit - Mittagong

A motorcycle rider will face court over a dangerous driving and a pursuit in state’s south yesterday.

About 3pm yesterday (Saturday 15 March 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Hume Highway, Mittagong, when they attempted to stop a red motorcycle after it was detected allegedly speeding.

When it failed to stop a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the pursuit was terminated on Medway Road, Berrima, due to a safety concern.

Following inquiries, with the assistance from PolAir, police arrested the 19-year-old man on Ormond Street, Exeter.

Further checks revealed the man was an unlicenced rider and the registration of motorcycle was also cancelled.

He was taken to Southern Highlands Police Station where he was charged with Class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 10km/h - lidar, police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, Class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 45 km/h - estimated, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, and unlicensed for Class, Class C, R, LR or MR.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Moss Vale Local Court on Tuesday 8 April 2025.
