An unlicensed driver has returned an alleged breath-alcohol reading more than six times the legal limit after being stopped by Highway Patrol officers in Sydney’s south-west overnight.
Officers attached to Camden Highway Patrol responded to calls from the public concerned about the way an SUV was being driven north along the Hume Highway.
The vehicle was stopped at Menangle about 10.40pm (Saturday 29 March 2025), and the driver subjected to a roadside breath test, which proved positive.
The 37-year-old man was arrested and taken to Narellan Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis, which returned an alleged reading of 0.317.
Checks also revealed the man’s provisional licence had expired more than two years ago.
The man, from Randwick, has been issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for high-range PCA, and drive on an expired licence.
He is due to appear in Picton Local Court on 17 April 2025.
The man has been banned from driving until his court appearance.
